Well, I was in Taitung last week end for the harvest festival of the Rukai and Puyuma tribes. While there, I visited a center called Bunun Buluo (Bunun community), close to the famous Hongye village, of the Bunun tribe, in the mountains of Taitung district.

The center has been set up to display Bunun artcrafts and other form of arts, in order to create jobs for the Bunun people of the area and raise money for the old people around. There, are exhibited many works of contemporary aboriginal artists.
Close to the center, the Hongye village (few houses in the mountains)is famous for its former aboriginal base ball players. In this very poor village of the 50s and the 60s, few little boys learnt to play base ball bare-feet, with stones and bamboo sticks. They were so good that they became nationally famous and even went to the States to play in big competitions.
